Rodents During Autumn and Winter
Residential pest control services employ safe pesticides so that it won’t harm your family members and the immediate surroundings.
When the autumn air grows crisp and cold, we love the cozy feeling of warming up in our homes. Unsurprisingly, all of the wildlife that is living around our houses tends to feel exactly the same way about our nice, warm shelters. Though these little critters can be cute to see in their natural habitats, it can be dangerous for them to try to make their homes indoors, so every precaution should be taken to keep them out. Keep your wildlife in the wild by establishing your own wildlife exclusion system to protect your family and home.
Depending on what type of wildlife happens to live in your region, there are many different risks of having a home that is susceptible to wild animals moving in. One very common type of pest issue is when squirrels attempt to make their nests in attics. This can lead to unbelievable amounts of destruction, as they will use whatever they can find, which often means your insulation, to build cozy little beds. They also have the very dangerous habit of chewing on electrical wires, which in certain cases has been known to start house fires. Other animals that would love to make their homes inside your house include opossums, raccoons, rats, bats, flying squirrels, and a whole host of others. Each brings their own potential risks, including diseases transmitted by bites or fleas, destructive damage to your home, or attacks against your children or pets.
Ways To Protect Your Home
Some of the ways to protect your home will be quite intuitive, such as sealing up any openings where animals might make their way in and avoiding leaving out enticing treats, like pet food. However, to be sure that you are fully secured you should first seek the advice of professionals with experience in dealing with wildlife that know how they are likely to attempt to intrude.
Evaluate Your Risk
The best way to ensure that your home is protected is to start by consulting the experts. Because an inexperienced eye may have trouble identifying potential risk factors, your first move should be to hire a professional wildlife exclusion team. They can come and inspect your home properly, evaluating possible problem areas and implementing steps towards eliminating these problems. Another bonus is that they will be able to offer invaluable tips on how you can prevent pest invasions that go beyond exclusion techniques, like certain behaviors that might leave you more at risk (a simple example of this may be things like leaving food out, or not securing your trash cans). Be sure to have this service done well before the weather gets cold. It is much easier to prevent a problem like wildlife moving into your home than it is to remove them once they are already there.

How to Get Rid of Spiders Naturally - 2 Methods to Keep Them at Bay
Regardless of what kind of pest you’ve got, it is better to get hold of a pest control company when possible.
They do feed at night and do seek out dark, cool, moist places to hang out during the day. Some common hiding places are under organic matter such as mulch, pine straw, leaf litter, and other debris, loose wood chip mulches, decaying matter, rotten fruit on the ground, wood, boards or tree branches that are on the ground, under dense growth of vines or thick cover and flower pots, any thing moist that will shade and protect them from the sun. As well as hiding in piles of firewood you didn't use last year and let us not forget hanging out inside that small wooded shed you have out back that you haven't been gone inside in years. While Earwigs are scavengers, eating dead insects, decomposing plant materials they can also eat live plants and damage your vegetables and feed on the flowers of plants, including marigolds, petunias, hibiscus, and many other plants. Earwigs leave many small holes in plant leaves and flowers.
Seedlings and most flowering plants can be severely damaged or even killed when you have a large earwig population (coffee grinds will protect). Earwigs can produce large populations rather quickly and can become a major problem for the homeowner over night! They are attracted to lights so they will come in at night attracted to any lights that are on; as well as to any lights that you have on during the day which will cause them to hang out there esp if it is a cool area. Earwigs can be found in most homes and can get in through entry points like doors and windows, going up through the broken walls and any cracked openings, broken screens. They do have a beneficial role in the landscape and have been shown to be important predators of aphids, mites, most insect eggs, and most soft bodied insects such as white flies. They do have a very disagreeable odor when crushed.
Some Natural Controls
Hint: earwigs are attracted to moisture
Control water around the outside of the house. Repair any leaks. Convert to drip system to keep water below ground. Regularly control weeds and clean up dead debris. Eliminate high moisture areas around walls, in mulch, under stones, boards, etc. Control damp moist conditions in crawl spaces, faucets, along the foundations. Change landscaping by creating a dry border immediately around the house walls. Gravel or flat stones can make an attractive barrier against earwigs and other pest invaders. Rain gutters should direct water away from the house. Caulk or use weather stripping at all possible entry points such as doors, windows, pipes, repair screens and doors and windows. Where earwigs are a problem, eliminate hiding places that have high moisture levels. Initiate a regular daily trapping program. Removing earwig habitats is very important to the control of all insects, including earwigs. As they are attracted to lights, stop lighting outside at night. Remove the white light and install yellow LED ones instead.
Trapping is an effective, easy approach to reducing earwig populations.
One of the key element of a natural earwig management program is a daily active trapping system. Just before dark, place the bird finch traps throughout the yard in out of sight places. In the morning, shake them out the traps over a pail of Dr Bronners Soap / water or any natural soap n water. Keep trapping until you do not catch any more earwigs. Traps can be hidden near shrubbery and ground cover plantings, or against the house. For fruit trees, keep weeds, brush, and the suckers (always prune) away from the base of trees throughout the year because they provide refuge for earwigs, snails and other creatures. Monitor populations by counting amounts of earwigs caught in the traps.
Eliminate Their Habitat:
Altering the habitat around your garden will reduce earwig population and damage. Get rid of their hiding places: boards, weeds, wood piles, plant debris, leaf litter, and any other objects that create dark, moist hiding places. Do not plant dense ground covers, such as ivy, mint, herbs,, next to vegetable or flower gardens. Raise vulnerable seedlings indoors until they are able to withstand some munching. Or start them outdoors on a table with legs protected by sticky barriers.
Some folks advise against the use of organic mulch because they say it provides harborage to pests such as earwigs and spiders. I have the opposing view that organic mulch offers earwigs a diverse hunting area that will save your plants as well as provide for the earth's needs. Mulch can easily be kept clean of earwigs by dusting with garden grade several times per year or by dust just before and after every time you apply a new layer of mulch. Spraying the mulch with any natural soap will also control them too.

Skunk Removal and Animal Control - Are They Dangerous?
The absolute most important reason for having pest control at your property is health.
How effective are ground mole traps? They can mean problems for the homeowner who takes pride in having a nice yard. A variety of ground them are available to help control mole infestations, but no two are the same. Some of them work better than others. There is a device called a "mole chaser" that uses flashlight batteries and is inserted into the ground. It slightly shakes to attracts a mole that is then lured inside where it is trapped. This is one of the more ineffective ground mole traps commonly found on the market. There are ground traps that work with the exhaust of a car.
A specially designed hose is hooked up to a car's exhaust system. The other end is inserted into a mole's tunnel and the animals inside are asphyxiated. These types of traps tend to work well. One of the most effective ground mole traps is called the Mole Pro trap. This trap is noted for the effectiveness of its trigger and spring system which works very much like a mouse trap. Varieties of ground mole traps differ in the way their trapping mechanisms are designed. The Duffus Tunnel trap is commonly used in the northeastern part of the United States. While this trap can be hard to find in some areas of the country, it has been proven to be safe and effective.
There have been some complaints about the trigger and spring systems on these types of traps and they are generally considered unreliable. Pincher style ground traps follow suit. In general, they are unreliable and do not have good trigger and spring systems. Of all the traps mentioned, the Mole Pro trap, Duffus Tunnel trap and Victor Out "O" Sight traps are rated as the top three traps you can buy. However, even these traps cannot compete with the success rates of professional mole removal specialists.
